Fundraising for Cameroon

This year, the school has been focused on a number of fundraising activities to supoort a range of charities.

One such initiative has been our partnership with St Raphael parish, Bojongo Bonaberi in the anglophone zone of Douala in Cameroon. The parish is run by the Mill Hill missionaries and the parish priest is Fr Innocent Akum Wefon.

The parish is made up by displaced people, escaping war zones and is mostly women and children. Due to the focus on the global covid-19 pandemic, the parish been neglected by the local government and required to largely fend for themselves.  The children have sacrificed their education to work in dangerous conditions to provide for their families.

The aim of the fundraising initiative is to cover the cost of school fees and teaching materials for 100,000 children in Bonaberi. £20 would provide a student with two text books, exercise books and stationery for an acadmic year.

We are delighted to have been able to present the parish with a cheque for £1000 to support their amazing work.

Fr Innocent sent the school this blessing:

As we celebrate the reality of God’s presence and love for humankind

May you be filled with abundant Blessings and Grace to always reach out to the downtrodden,

May you be a light in darkness, hope for the hopeless, liberator for captives.

We pray for bread for the hungry,

Love for the unloved,

Healing for the sick,

Protection for children,

Wisdom for our youth and leaders,

Amen

Wishing all students, staff and families a Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year

Yours in Christ,

Fr Innocent Wefon Akum (From Douala in Cameroon)
