Senior Citizens' Christmas Party

On Wednesday 4 December, we hosted our annual party for Senior Citizens from our local community.

As our guests arrived they were warmly greeted by our volunteer sixth form students in festive outfits to take them to their tables.

Whilst the guest settled in, our staff began to get the wine flowing and then there was a range of Christmas carols, songs and drama performed by our younger students. The performances were fantastic and really got everyone in the festive mood.

A beautiful meal was prepared by our kitchen staff from Innovate Catering and served to our guests by the sixth form students.

Following the meal, there was the excitement of the raffle and thanks to the donations of staff, parents and a number companies that the school work with, every guest won a lovely prize.

At the end of the festivities, our guests began to depart only to be greeted by Santa with another gift for each of them.

Our visitors could not have been more complimentary about the party put on for them and were particularly keen to point out to staff how amazing all our students were in welcoming them and talking with them throughout the event. Regular guests commented that the event gets better every year and they always look forward to it.

For St James', this long-established event marks the start of Christmas and it is only possible through the generosity of parents and students in fundraising through our non-uniform day, through the dedication of our kitchen staff, our own staff for being so willing to help, our amazing sixth formers for giving their time and for the kindness of those local companies that support us so readily.
