Year 10 Art Students visit The Royal Academy

Year 10 Art & Design students visited The Oceania exhibition at the Royal Academy.  They also had a chance to see the work of Renzo Piano, the architect who designed the Shard.

This is part of a new Scheme of Work called “Voyage & Discovery”.  Both exhibitions shared the theme of exploration, visiting new places and taking time to evaluate and compare different attitudes and cultures.

Before the trip, students studied Oceanic art and learned about the voyages of captain James Cook.  During the visit they spent their time drawing, watching film installations and writing about the work before developing their responses further in their sketchbooks
