09/07/2026Chaplaincy
At St. James' Catholic School, our Chaplaincy Team offers every student the opportunity to live out their faith through leadership, service, and community. Inspired by the Dominican Pillars of Prayer, Study, Community, and Service, chaplaincy is at the heart of our school's mission, providing meaningful ways to share your gifts while making a positive difference to the lives of others.
There are a wide range of ministries and activities to become involved in, allowing everyone to contribute in a way that reflects their talents and interests. Students can help write and record our weekly bidding prayers, join our school podcast team to share faith-filled reflections and celebrate school life, serve as altar servers during Mass and liturgies, support transition activities with our partner primary schools, or help plan and prepare our daily form-time prayer presentations. Whether you enjoy speaking, writing, organising, welcoming others, or serving behind the scenes, there is a place for you within our chaplaincy.
Being part of the Chaplaincy Team is an opportunity to grow in faith, develop leadership skills, build lasting friendships, and put the Gospel into action. Together, we strive to create a welcoming and prayerful community where everyone is encouraged to use their gifts in the service of others and to be a witness to Christ in the spirit of St. Dominic.
See Holly or Ms. Marsh to join the team!

Retreats
At St. James' Catholic School, we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to pause, reflect, and grow in their relationship with God, themselves, and others. That is why every student takes part in a dedicated retreat day each year as an integral part of their faith formation.
Retreats provide valuable time away from the pace of everyday school life, allowing pupils to deepen their understanding of their faith, explore their personal gifts and values, and reflect on their role within the wider community. Rooted in the Dominican Pillars of Prayer, Study, Community, and Service, our retreat programme encourages students to encounter Christ through prayer and reflection, engage thoughtfully with their faith, strengthen relationships with others, and be inspired to put their faith into action through service. As an essential part of each student's spiritual journey, our retreat days nurture the whole person, helping our young people to grow in confidence, compassion, and purpose as they continue to live out the Gospel in their daily lives.
